Lion House

The Lion House, completed in 1856, was originally the family residence of Brigham Young, the second President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the first Territorial governor of the Utah Territory. The home is named for the carved stone lion that sits above its front entrance.
This home was the center of daily life for the family of one of Utah’s most prominent leaders. Its exhibits and restored rooms illustrate how building Zion begins in our own hearts and homes.

The Eagle Gate Monument is one of Salt Lake City’s most recognized landmarks. Spanning State Street near Temple Square, the monument traces its roots to Brigham Young’s original 1859 gate and symbolizes the faith, industry, and determination of Utah’s early settlers.
