What is the Salt Lake Temple Celebration?


The Salt Lake Temple Celebration marks the reopening of the Salt Lake Temple after years of construction and renovation. From April 5 to October 1, 2027, you will find in-person and online experiences inviting all to come closer to Jesus Christ and learn about His holy houses.

This page focuses on in-person events planned at Temple Square during the celebration period. You can also join the celebration at events held worldwide or participate in virtual experiences.

Tour the Salt Lake Temple


For the first time since 1893, the Salt Lake Temple will be open to the public. Millions of people will step inside to understand what happens inside temples, see the historic craftsmanship, and feel the peace of a place that is built to honor the Savior Jesus Christ.

You are invited to see this temple in person during its six-month open house. Once the Salt Lake Temple is dedicated, it becomes a sacred space used only for worship. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to experience a historic temple that symbolizes the faith of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Historic Lion and Beehive Houses


The Lion and Beehive Houses are completing a major restoration project to bring the buildings back to their original state in 1800. The new experience will open to the public on April 5, 2027 for the celebration and will feature four self-guided tours.

Welfare Square and Humanitarian Center


Go behind the scenes of the bakery, cannery, dairy, and humanitarian center to see how the Church cares for those in need. Buses will be available during the celebration for guests to experience Welfare Square and the Humanitarian Center. Tours available 7-days a week.

Getting to Temple Square

Temple Square is located at 20 W. South Temple Street

-10-minute drive from SLC International Airport
-Free shuttle service from designated parking (details coming soon)
-Easily accessible by public bus and train

Please note that downtown parking will not be available during the celebration. West Temple and North Temple streets will be closed to all traffic.

  • What is the dress code for Temple Square?

    There is no specific dress code. Please dress comfortably for your visit to Temple Square!

  • Can I take pictures and videos on Temple Square?

    Yes! We hope you’ll take pictures to remember your visit—and we hope you’ll share your experiences on social media. #TempleSquare #TempleCelebration

  • Are wheelchairs available to borrow on Temple Square?

    Yes. A limited number of wheelchairs will be available free of charge to use inside the Conference Center and the Temple Square Visitors’ Center. They are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Are strollers allowed on Temple Square and on the Salt Lake Temple Tour?

    Yes. Strollers are allowed and welcome. For inside experiences, strollers must be no larger than 31 inches (79 cm) wide and 52 inches (132 cm) long.
