About

Flag Plaza is an art installation on Temple Square that symbolizes the global reach of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Arranged in an oval formation, the flags represent officially recognized United Nations countries and rotate regularly throughout the year.

The display begins with the flag of the United States and continues alphabetically with 90 additional flags shown at a time. Every three months, a new group of flags is installed. Each flag is illuminated day and night and remains at full staff as part of the artistic design.

For visitors, Flag Plaza offers a visual reminder that faith in Jesus Christ brings people together across cultures, languages, and borders. It invites reflection on unity, belonging, and the shared hope that connects God’s children worldwide.
