City Creek Arch
A historic stone arch in the Temple Square wall marking where City Creek once flowed through the block.
50 West North Temple Street, Salt Lake City, UT 84150
About
The City Creek Arch is one of the surviving historic features from the early construction of Temple Square. Located along the west wall, the arch was built to allow City Creek to pass beneath the wall and continue south through the property as the temple grounds were being enclosed in the 1850s.
At the time, the creek was an important part of daily life in the growing settlement. Though the waterway was later redirected, the stone arch was preserved and can still be seen today from West Temple Street.
