The Eagle Gate Monument stands at the intersection of State Street and South Temple near Temple Square. The original gate was built in 1859 near the entrance to Brigham Young’s property and quickly became a recognizable symbol of the growing pioneer settlement.

Today’s monument features a large bronze eagle perched above a beehive, spanning the street below.
